The Acting Director, Corporate Communication of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Isaac Okorafor has said the news of a purported fire outbreak at the apex bank headquarters is false, adding that nothing of such happened.
In a statement made available to journalists yesterday night, the bank spokesperson said the bank’s headquarters maintains a security system that triggers safety alarms in the presence of smoke and when this happened all the fire engines and personnel heard the alarms, thinking it was a fire outbreak, but only to discover it was an unusual pall of smoke coming from an exhaust a generator.
”Passersby who saw a pall of exhaust from the generator house far away from the building apparently mistook the exhaust for fire smoke,” he said.
He stated that affected generator has been rested and normal work has begun.
He stressed there was no fire at the CBN building.
